Haiku by M.V. Montgomery

sound and sense

A distant horn honked,
defining the contours of
the outside city.

dreaming

This dreaming of mine:
like opening a too-large
umbrella indoors.

a day in the life

Pausing to remove
dry branch caught in soccer net:
morning goaltending.

*

As I plan a lunch,
checking expiration dates
helps me to decide.

*

inadvertently
washing dollar bill in pants:
money-laundering.

M.V. Montgomery is a professor at Life University. His most recent book is What We Did With Old Moons.
